Arizona Gives Day: YEI! —Yavapai Exceptional Industries

Yavapai Exceptional Industries! (YEI!) is proud to join Arizona Gives Day Tuesday, April 4, 2017, along with thousands of nonprofits from all over the state! Through an online portal, Arizonans will be able to unite and support their favorite nonprofit(s) for exactly 24 hours of virtual giving. Sponsored by FirstBank, this day of fundraising is a community-led effort to invest in our state.

Says YEI! Executive Director Brad Newman, “Because ‘Arizona Gives’ to YEI!, 158 people each day are supported in five facilities that are completely paid off in programs of training, employment, activities, transportation, and even Summer Camp! YEI! is 43-years young and going strong because everyone pitches in!” Exceptionalism is found every day at YEI! and they were honored in October 2016 when employee Ron Aguilera received an award representing the Direct Support Professional of the Year 2016 sponsored by the Department of Economic Security (DES) in Arizona. DES awards and honors those Direct Support Professionals and Direct Support Supervisors for the exceptional work they do in providing support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Aguilera joined other recipients who were chosen for their dedication, commitment and excellence in their caregiving roles. It’s those like Ron Aguilera who embody the spirit of YEI! every single day.

Yavapai Exceptional Industries (YEI!) is a charitable organization founded in 1974 to support adults with disabilities. YEI! has been providing job training, employment, volunteer placements, and support services for these developmentally disabled adult residents of the cities and towns of the Central Highlands. Their program of “Developmental Employment” includes the award-winning “Community Contribution Corps” (community volunteer placements) and has been continually accredited at the highest level of service by the National Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 1978.

Sierra Tucson Announces Promotion of Chief Medical Officer

TUCSON, Ariz. (Dec. 12, 2016)Sierra Tucson, an internationally renowned leader in behavioral and mental health care, announced today the promotion of Michael V. Genovese, MD, JD, to chief medical advisor of the Acadia Healthcare Recovery Division. Acadia Healthcare is the parent company of Sierra Tucson. Previously, Dr. Genovese served as chief medical officer at Sierra Tucson since October 2014.

In his new role, Dr. Genovese will provide his expertise and presence for not only Sierra Tucson, but for the broader recovery division of Acadia Healthcare as well. Through Dr. Genovese’s guidance, the Recovery Division and Sierra Tucson will continue to be an advocate, thought leader and innovator in the industry, across a myriad of sectors.

During his tenure at Sierra Tucson, Dr. Genovese worked closely with internal and external teams to advance clinical and medical programing, and provided cutting-edge innovations to improve the outcomes of Sierra Tucson’s residents. He has assisted in building out Sierra Tucson’s medical team; has worked closely to provide enhanced safety for residents; and has helped provide greater ease of access to Sierra Tucson’s world-class treatment.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer Takes Part in Decision Point Ad Campaign

Phoenix, AZ – November 14, 2016 – Decision Point, a leading Arizona treatment center that assesses, diagnoses and treats drug and alcohol misuse, abuse and addiction announces that Alice Cooper has endorsed the center. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame singer, songwriter, heavy metal rock musician and founder of the non-profit Phoenix teen center Solid Rock knows well the challenges that families and young adults face when it comes to substance abuse and addiction. Having struggled with alcohol in the 70s and 80s, Cooper’s mission is to provide a safe place for at-risk teens through his Solid Rock program. Now, he is lending his voice to Decision Point through a fully integrated, multimedia campaign that includes radio, digital, social media and public relations.
